The upscale borough Steglitz-Zehlendorf is known for villagelike neighborhoods including Dahlem, home to the Free University and its library designed by Norman Foster. The Botanical Gardens have several connected greenhouses. Southwest on Wannsee lake are the House of the Wannsee Conference, where leading Nazis discussed the “Final Solution,” and the Max Liebermann Villa, former home of the Impressionist painter.
Steglitz-Zehlendorf is the sixth borough of Berlin, formed in Berlin's 2001 administrative reform by merging the former boroughs of Steglitz and Zehlendorf.
