  • Early Encounters in North America: Peoples, Cultures, and the Environment - Funded with the generous support of the William M and Mary D Harrison Library Fund, Early Encounters documents the relationships among diverse peoples in North America from 1534 to 1850. The Indian perspective is recorded in a wide variety of sources, including oral accounts written down by Europeans at the time of contact and afterward, speeches, correspondence, and publications produced by Indians. The collection offers nearly 1,000 prints, drawings, paintings, maps, bibliographies, letters, photographs, and original facsimile pages.
  • Gale Primary Sources: Indigenous Peoples of North America - Primary source collection (1849-1988) illustrating interactions of the United States and Canadian governments and civil societies with the Indigenous peoples of the continent in the context of the policies of white supremacy and colonization, leading to extermination, forced displacement, or forced assimilation of Indigenous peoples. Materials are sourced from American and Canadian archives, and are primarily composed of materials produced by White European settler communities, Christian religious organizations, U.S. and Canadian government agencies, and non-indigenous scholars, although some materials produced by the indigenous communities are included, such as the papers of the Society of American Indians (1906-1946) and the Indigenous Peoples Newspapers sub-collection. Also included are archives of NGOs like the Association on American Indian Affairs (1851-1983) and the White-led Indian Rights Association (1882-1986)
